Office and Client Safety Precautions in Effect During the COVID-19 Pandemic

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of my clients, myself, my colleagues, and our respective loved ones are my priority.

My colleagues and I are taking the following precautions to protect our clients and help slow the spread of the coronavirus based on the recommendations of our respective regulatory bodies, the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, WorksafeBC and the provincial government.

  • Our front desk staff at Collaborative Wellness will be behind a glass sneeze shield – this does not apply to The Counselling Group offices.

  • Office seating in the White Rock office waiting room and in both the Ladner and White Rock counselling/therapy rooms has been arranged for appropriate physical distancing.

  • All high-contact surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized several times per day. Anything touched in the counselling/treatment rooms will be cleaned between each use.

  • I will practice thorough hand hygiene at all times to keep everyone safe.

  • I am asking clients to wait in their cars until just before session, then meet me at the outer door for the Ladner office, or the waiting room for the White Rock office.

  • Due to the smaller size of my White Rock office, I am asking all clients to wear masks and I will also wear a mask. We are still able to maintain 2 meters of distance in these rooms.

  • In my Ladner office it is expected that clients wear masks in the main office area and bathroom - masks in session are optional, as the room is quite large and a number of measures are in place to keep everyone safe.

  • My colleagues and I maintain a minimum of 2 meters of distance, and wear masks in the larger office.

  • Restroom soap dispensers are maintained and everyone is encouraged to wash their hands.

  • Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol is available in the counselling/ therapy rooms, the waiting room and at the reception counter.

  • Remote and touch-less payment methods will be provided.

  • Physical contact is not permitted.

  • Tissues and trash bins are easily accessed. Trash is disposed of on a frequent basis.

  • If I or my children experience any possible COVID-19 symptoms, I will be moving sessions to either an online platform or to phone.

My request of clients:

  • If you have any possible COVID-19 symptoms (including cough, fever, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, headache, severe chest pain) or are feeling unwell please stay home. There will be no late cancellation fee if you are sick. You will be called prior to your appointment for a screening.

  • Please stay in your car until just before your designated appointment time. Please text me at 778-998-9770 when you arrive, and I will meet you at the outer door right before session.

  • When you come into the office you will be re-screened and asked to sanitize your hands. You will then be directed into a counselling room.

  • Only bring into the office the items you really need, and don't bring any people (children included) that are not necessary for your counselling session.

  • In order for billing to be contactless, you will be asked to either provide a credit card number at the end of session or you may e-transfer me. Your receipt will be emailed to you.

  • I ask that you read carefully and sign a Consent for In-Person Services During COVID-19 Public Health Crisis before we start in-person counselling

What about online appointments (Telehealth)?

  • Telehealth will remain a priority

  • If you do not wish to come into the office for any reason (childcare, health concerns, etc.) I will be happy to see you online or by phone. You will still get a thorough appointment.
